Inferencing is when we use the text and our own prior knowledge to interpret what we think the author is really trying to say.
This helps us to have a better understanding of the texts we read. We can also create our own unique meaning of the text. As we read our understandings are sometimes revised as we are exposed to new information. This confirms or adjusts our thinking.
