Today we had to write our own bold beginnings. Miss Taylor gave us a story starter and we changed it to make it exciting for our audience to read.
Yesterday I went for a ride on my new bike. ACTION I hopped on my bike and pedalled around the block - Olivia My legs go round as I pedal along the path on my new bike - Jade My feet were pushing down on the pedals on my new bike as I tried to climb a big hill – Riley My legs were pounding as I was biking as fast as I could – Tyler I pedalled down the steep hill before crashing my new bike into a tree – Jake DIALOGUE “Mum, Dad, I’m going for a ride on my new bike” I yelled out loud – Matthew G “This is going too fast, how do I slow down ?!” I yell as a I crash into a window – Victoria “Ahh what a nice day to go biking around the block” I said to mum as I hopped on my new bike – Olivia “This is exhausting Dad, I’ve already done 6 laps!” I yell at Dad – Riley THOUGHT/FEELING/QUESTION I wish I knew how to, but I don’t, I don’t know how to change the gears I thought to myself – Abby R I wonder how fast this thing can go? - Alex I thought my new bike would be shiny and clean, but it’s rusty and dirty – Matthew P I wonder if I can ride my new bike with no hands? - Cole SOUND EFFECT Crash! I just hit the garbage can – Jasmin Zoom! I was riding on my new bike – Cole Errrrr! Tire all over the road, I did a big skid! - Riley Bang! I crashed my new bike into our new fence – Troy Smash, I crashed into a branch on a tree swerving around an old lady – Tyler Screech! The brakes are not working! – Fletcher We are learning to bring our writing to life and hook our audience from the start. Today we learnt about four different ways to start our writing. We looked at a "boring" story starter and then some examples of ways to make it BOLD!
