We read an excerpt today from the book "Boy" by Roald Dahl. Together we made some text to self connections with the text. We are practicing using the right language when we make these connections.

I had a similar experience when I was riding my bike with no hands down a hill except I crashed – Jasmin
I had a similar experience when someone rode their bike past me when I was walking to the dairy and they were showing off – Tyler

I had a similar experience when I was walking down a path and someone was riding with no hands and I wished I could do that too – Olivia
I had a similar experience when Jasmin and I were in a running race and she won and I wanted to be as fast as her – Victoria
This reminds me of when I fell off my bike and hurt my ankle – Isabella
I remember when I went to primary school and I saw a 12 year old on mgp scooter and he was going really fast down the hill - Tyla
Making connections is when we link something we have read with something we already know. There are three kinds of connections we are learning to make while we are reading:
Text to Self - This is when we relate something we have read to our own personal experiences.
Text to text - This is when we relate something we have read to other texts.
Text to world - This is when we relate something we have read to the wider world.
